January 29: LIFE after 1 year of Open Heart Surgery

Add caption

There are dates in our lives that we can't simply forget because of happy moments or a tragedy. For me this day, January 29 could be my death anniversary instead it happens to be my reborn. God has given me a second life. This day was my 1st heartiversary, the day that I survived my open heart surgery at the Philippine Heart Center

Sa mga nakakakilala po sa akin marahil alam niyo na yung condition ko before my surgery. It's been a hell and back to the emergency room 2 years after akong madiagnosed sa sakit na "Coronary Artery Disease", it's a kind of heart disease where my artery is blocked by cholesterol plaque that given me many kind of symptoms like extreme shortness of breath that almost cost my life. But all my life, I will carry this day and never forget that in my deepest pain I saw God's glory. Patunay lang talaga na nothing is impossible with prayers.

The night before the surgery parang wala na lang. I was visited by a chaplain at my hospital bed and he ask me to confess all my sins if in case alam niyo na. We prayed and that was the most sorrowful prayer that I ever had. When you're in front of the death's doorstep is parang lahat ng winoworries mo noong normal ka eh parang hindi mo na maiisip pa. At that moment ang sabi ko na lang sa isip ko, "Lord, please if I ever die tomorrow please let me die without the pain." Since naisip ko na naka-general anaesthesia naman pala ako so hindi ko na mararamdaman yung sting of death. I was trying to convince my self that time na ready na ako whatever happens.

Demon Hunter - Leave Me Alone
This song hits me on a personal level... Ryan wrote it about a serious, albeit temporary, health problem. For people with chronic stuff, it means a lot more. Sometimes we want to know the reason why do we suffer.

The surgery started at 3PM and dinala na ako sa surgical room. I was all naked when I brought there. My first meal is a gelatin kailangan soft foods muna. I was feeling like a kid again noong pinapasok si ermats sa ICU at sinubuan niya ko ng food ko.

Demon Hunter - More Than Bones
"'More Than Bones,'" is basically saying that when I leave this earth, I'll leave you more than bones - I'll leave you all of my thoughts and all of my hopes and dreams and my desire to connect and resonate with people through this music."

Lumabas ako ng ICU hapon na ng January 31 and I stayed at the ward for 4 days para magpalakas. There was a kid na almost katapat lang ng bed ward ko. They said he is 21 years old. That kid is okay, kasi siya nakakapaglakad na siya nauna siya maoperahan sa akin and he really looks well. However, the tragic morning of January 31 has changed it all. May narinig kaming sumisigaw sa comfort room yung guardian nung 21 year old and she continously screaming for help. Halos 10 to 15 seconds din siguro yung itinagal bago dumating yung mga nurse. The boy died that day. Sad to say na uuwi na sila that day but that tragedy happens. Imagine how quick life has taken in just seconds. I will always remember that kid because he is my ward mate. That's the first time I saw someone died and I admit na sumakit yung dibdib ko nun and nahirapan din akong huminga knowing that the kid is already well and he is  about to go home but death still claimed him.

'Tagaytay, June 2019'
Recovery began and rough days ahead full of anxieties and as expected there's depression. Naka dalawa or tatlo pa rin akong emergency room after the OHS because bumababa ng sobra yung blood pressure ko dahil sa mga BP medicines and my heart rate bagsak sa 60, my BP at the lowest at 72/50 something. Nahirapan ulit akong huminga kasabay ng fever and chills at night. The doctors adjusted my medicines thrice hanggang sa maging okay na ang BP and heart rate ko. After 4 months, my doctor gave me a go-signal na puwede akong bumiyahe kasi nagkaroon ng family outing dahil sa akin to lessen my worries and anxiety we visited Baguio City last summer. I made it doon ako nag-umpisang maglakad-lakad ng medyo malalayo . There were times that I got winded pero thank God kinaya ko yung trip to Baguio. We also had a trip to Tagaytay's Pink Sisters and Father Pio's Shrine at Sto.Tomas, Batangas.

'Baguio City, April 2019'
'Batangas, September 2019'

After that, recovery goes on a straight line. By prayers and God's guidance the anxiety and depression slowly fades away. Nagagawa ko naulit yung mga bagay na hindi ko na nagawa before like this one blogging, biking, basketball, walking around malls, nakatapos ako ng Simbang gabi na gamit ko ang bike and especially yung stray feeding which I missed the most. That's the contract I signed and all these prayers were answered by Him and I need to do something to give back. I have feed every strays that I saw here in Imus and Bacoor and I am also giving foods to homeless people every Sunday. I'm not trying to be a saint or something. Second chances are rare, He gave me new leash of  life now He needs something in return for the goodness He has given me.

'Completing the Simbang Gabi night ride'

Everything has changed from sorrow to happiness. God is real and prayers are heard. I've followed the right path and kung iisipin mo kapag maghahanap ako ng trabaho sa labas they will saw my medical record and malamang na hindi agad ako matatanggap but look nagkaroon ako ng work from home last July and dahil sabi ko sa kanya na mag-shahare ako sa mga nangangailangan nabigyan niya ako ng work na mas higit pa sa mas kaya kong ipangbili ko ng mga gamot ko. I can say na mas nagiging matatag yung faith ko today it makes me closer to Him. Dati wala eh makareceived ako ng mga blessings balewala lang I just consumed all that blessings after that hindi ako nakakapagpasalamat. Pero ngayon I give importance for every blessings big or small I always say "Thank you Lord" before going to bed.

Trending: The Kain Pepe Shirts at Ang Mapanghusgang Social Media

I really like a healthy conversation on social media on some comment section threads but I was really fired up when netizens are bashing a girl's picture wearing a brand clothing with a word printed in the shirt "Kain Pepe".

But what I didn't like are these common judgmental Filipinos bashing this poor girl's photo. They also include her graduation picture with a caption insults pertaining to the model:

You want to earn respect? Then respect yourself first.
So, what's the point? Nagsuot lang siya ng t-shirt na hindi ka sang-ayon sa kung anong nakasulat eh nawala na ba ang pinag-aralan niya all through her life? In the very first place kung isinuot niya yun it doesn't reflect naman sa buong pagkatao niya. Who are you to judge?
"You want to earn respect, respect yourself first" - Hahahaha! I love your English it's very automatic ang sarap ibalik sa kanya ng salitang ito kasi ikaw yung walang respeto.
Walang pinagkaiba yan dun. Sabihin na natin na bastos yung clothing but it doesn't mean na pati yung ugali ng modelo eh ganun na. Now you're judging a person base sa sinusuot niya?
Being liberated is not equivalent to being pokpok. Baka kasi namamali sila ng pagkakaintindi when we say liberated you are open at any sensitive topic especially about sex education but you're totally in control.
Again the issue here is not the girl but the clothing brand. Hindi natin ipinagtatanggol yung clothing brand which does not speak anything of women empowerment pagdating doon sa "Kain Pepe" issue.
Ang nakakatawa pa ay yung explanation ng clothing brand na kesyo yung pepe daw ay basic na  pangalan ng isang lalaking Pilipino and kain is to eat and they are encouraging people to eat properly. But I can't say "people" because you're only encouraging men to eat properly dun palang sablay ka na.

Every Good boy Has A Story:Remembering Our Famous Aspins

'Every good boy has a story like Palakitik' / credits to the owner of the image: PETA ASIA

See the difference? Minsan napaka-ipokrito natin ano?

Metallica - Hero of the Day

SAVER THE WONDER DOG.

Do you remember the early year of 2000s? Aside from dancing he can do basic arithmetic and become a popular puppy face sa TV in various commercial and films.

Sadly, Saver died in 2009 due to heart attack that broke thousands of Filipinos heart especially his master.

Did you know that the Republic Act 8485 also known as Animal Cruelty Law in the Philippines is said to have drawn inspiration from "Saver the Wonder Dog".

ROY THE ASPIN

Foo Fighters - Hero

Roy is a mix breed of Asong Pinoy and Labrador who works for the Philippine Army. The dog became famous back in 2015 where he guide the rescuers for them to retrieve 4 cadavers in the landslide-stricken Manyakan, Benguet.

Nawalan na ng pag-asa ang mga relatives ng biktima but because of the help of our dog hero ay natagpuan niya ang katawan ng mga biktima sadly lang na wala na itong mga buhay. They said the dog went through tons of mud to find the missing bodies.

Sgt. Wilfredo Fiesta added that Roy is a special military working dog. Despite being a mix-breed, he is intelligent and can keep pace with pure breeds.

BLACKJACK

Have you ever heard of a dog that sends his master to school?

You heard it right. Eddie Aquino is the master of BlackJack, pinangalan sa kanya ay blackjack because of the dog's black coat. There tandem started when the Aquino family found a puppy underneath their tricycle in 2013. They took him and trained him to do tricks.

Now Blackjack and Eddie are performing at the sidewalks near the Manila City Hall. Both attracts the passers-by with dance numbers, card tricks and Blackjack's uncanny ability to solve basic math problems like Saver the Wonder Dog.

The boy Eddie said , "the earnings we get from our street performances are used to buy Jack's food, and for my allowance for school."

"Blackjack practically sends me to school", the boy added.

BUBOY

'Buboy and Sir Marcelo inside the classroom'

Buboy is said to be the Hachiko of the Philippines.

A stray dog named Buboy, captured the heart of the netizens as he continued to wait for the professor he came to perceive as his companion in Mabalacat City College, Pampanga.

But Buboy does not know that Professor Carmelito Marcelo, who took care of him for around 4 years, had passed away last May 18.

The dog followed the professor everywhere on campus, according to Marcelo's colleague Kristina Demafelix.

The loyal pup was brought to Sir Marcelo's wake, the first time he saw his human since he fell ill and was placed in the hospital's intensive care unit for two weeks. Kristina decided to bring Buboy to the professor's wake after she noticed that the pup had been waiting for the professor outside their faculty room.

The professor considered the pup as his child since has no family of his own.

But here is the bitter twist of the story.

The stray dog who went viral on social media for faithfully waiting for his human had passed away has joined him in the after-life.

Buboy was run over by a vehicle after just two weeks of Sir Marcelo's wake. Animal Kingdom Foundation said Buboy was following a guard when he was run over by a vehicle while crossing the highway, according to a teacher at Mabalacat City College.

HERO DOG KABANG

In Zamboanga, people witnessed a dog threw herself in front of a speeding motorcycle that was bearing down two little girls ages 11 and 3. The two girls and the motorcycle driver was unhurt. But the dog, the hero of the day, didn't get off so easily. Her snout was hit by the motorcycle became caught in the spokes. It was ripped off. I can only imagine the pain the dog was in. Her master Rudy Bunggal took her to the veterinarian, he was asked whether he wanted to euthanize her. He refused.

After being treated for the wounds and antibiotics, Kabang has been getting along as well as she can. She got pregnant and had puppies. She became a local and international legend with people visiting her at her owner's vulcanizing shop at all hours.

Fortunately, the story seems to be headed toward a happy ending. Veterinarians, pet lovers and humanitarian groups, including Animal Welfare Coalition. have been raising money to bring Kabang and her family to the US for the surgery treatment.

Doctors at the University of California operated on Kabang's wounds and treated her for a tumour and heartworm.

The dog goes home on June 8, 2013 and was greeted by a crowd of well-wishers at Manila airport and later reunited with her owner, Rudy Bunggal, in Zamboanga.

FARAH, BILLY AND THUNDER

'The Porac Trio'

Known as the Porac Trio. Although they are not Aspins but they helped a lot in search and rescue operations after an earthquake with many survivors trapped in the rubble of the collapsed four-storey building after a 6.1 magnitude earthquake that hit Luzon last year on April 22.

Special mentions also on the K9 units involved in the operations: RINGO, CODY, CHIA, DUMBO, CHAPLIN, AND LUCY.

Skillet - Hero

Five people, three customers and two employees of Chuzon Supermarket died in the rubble, while nine people were rescued.

However, on November 13, 2019 the dog hero Farah passed away. Netizens expressed sadness at the passing of Farah, thanking the hero dog for her selfless service.

SAICY

Reports said a dog named "Saicy" followed its owner who was rushed by a neighbor to the Davao Doctors Hospital due to cardiac arrest. Staffs of the hospital said the dog kept barking outside the ER as Elenito Badayon the dog's master was fighting for his life.

Sad to say the patient died. The dog's owner may have been dead, but the love of the dog remains.

In a report conducted by Sun Star Davao, the neighbor who rushed Bandayon to the hospital were allowed to enter the ER when the patient was pronounced dead.

They said Saicy touched his owner and howled like she was crying and it seems that she know that her master is lifeless.

During Bandayon's wake Saicy has been often seen on top of its owner's coffin.

Saicy has been tagged the "Hachiko of Davao". Hachiko is the heartwarming story of a male Akita Inu dog, known for his remarkable loyalty to his owner. His story dates back to the 1920's when he was taken under the care of his master. Professor Hidesaburo Ueno.

PALAKITIK

Palakitik is a dog from the Volcano Island in Taal, where he usually greets tourist and team members conducting life saving clinic on Taal helping hundreds of malnourished and exhausted horses on the island. Palakitik excitedly greeting them and followed them around everywhere.

When the PETA rescue team members finally managed to step onto Taal island yesterday, they called out to her, not knowing whether she was dead or alive. To their amazement and relief, she came running up through ash, overjoyed to see friendly faces!

They gave her food, water and lots of cuddles and took her safely off the island to receive veterinary care.

Sana after all these stories lets be proud if you're an Aspin owners. Para sa akin Aspins are the most loyal dog. Hindi lang sila matatalinong aso they also guard homes and families at sana we learn how to treat them well. Nurture them with all the love you can give ang kapalit nun ay yung loyalty nila kasama na rin ng buhay nila. Yan ang Aspin ko!!

Palakitik rescued!

Mabuhay ang mga Aspins!
