Songs From the Outbox Vol. I: General Duster

'The eye-candies of the Philippine Rock bands. Duster Band and General Luna.'
Ever since I am a fan of all female group band. It was always a turn-on when all female bad group performs on the stage. There's always this "astig" factor in my mind. Lalo na kapag ang may hawak ng drums ay mga kababaihan at makikita mong nakasukbit ang mga electric guitars on their shoulders. With a vocals that will surely satisfies your ears and with a good rhythm.

Here in our country I would like to share some Pinoy taste of music, in terms of all female group. Sila yung mga idols ko pagdating sa rakrakan. Etong isa have comedy and humors on their lyrics while the other one talks about love and relationship songs. Songs from the outbox kasi sila yung mga bandang hindi gaano nakilala ng masa kait sobrang gaganda ng mga songs nila. More sort of an underground bands but once people started to hear there songs there is a potential to hit the top 1 on the countdown charts. Here in this post, I am proudly like to introduce bands like...DUSTER BAND and GENERAL LUNA.

Duster Band.
Three of them - Myrene Academia, Kris Dancel, Ristalle Bautista and Katwo Puertolano. They came from a different band. They decided to form an all female group and they named it "Duster", that came from the "daster ng ating mga Nanay." This quintessential piece of clothing worn by the Filipina in all her incarnations: nymphet in flimsy white cotton, mother replete with falling bra strap and baby in one arm. Kris is lead vocalist and guitarist from Cambio and Katwo is lead singer for indie rock band Narda. Meanwhile, perhaps the most visible of the three, Myrene plays the bass for the Raymond Marasigan-fronted Sandwich and the popular pop rock band Imago. She was also a former DJ at the defunct NU 107 radio station. This band released their 14-track debut album, Sweetheart Snackbar under Sony Music Philippines.

The band was spearheaded by Myrene, who came up with the name of the band and the title of their album (after an eatery she saw in Edsa, near Shaw Boulevard), but the idea started with Raimund and writer Radio Active Sago Project frontman Lourd de Veyra.

They have some music lying around, and Raimund wanted to collaborate with Lourd. But Lourd wanted it to perform by a girl. Half of the songs were written by Raimund and Lourd.

They are songs in the 14 album track that I really loved to here. Just like the songs "Saksakan" this is the most comedy, you can't stop laughing when you hear this song and the lyrics were bloody. It's good to hear also "Sexxing the Cherry" which was written by Lourd de Veyra (which could be take on the title of a novel written by well-known feminist writer Jeanette Winterson). Nonetheless, Duster insists this is not an issue.

Dek-A-Doodle-Dandy, i don't know about this song, but you can hear the word "adik" may times pertaining to a person and a thing. Next is "Houseborken", you might notice it's a wrong spelling but I don't now the catch why is it "borken" instead of broken. In this song, mapapansin mo na lang sa sarili mo na kinakanta mo na at inuulit ulit yung chorus na "Parang hipon, parang hipon, parang hipon." To complete the other songs that was released you can also try to hear "Gucci Gang", "QC Girls", "Miss Me" and "Janice Janice"

One of my favorites "Saksakan" by Duster band.

Another cut from the album "Houseborken"

They are not feminist, they just love the music. This is "Gucci Gang".

And one more thing that I like in this band, is there vocalist. Ganda niya and witty < 3   Move along with...

General Luna.
This were my eye candies. Don't mistake me for the word, they are just lovely girl group with a beautiful bodies. You can't figured out them as band eh, yung parang mga hugot na FHM models tat became a female band group. This band is composed of Nicole Asensio on vocals, Caren Magaran on lead guitar, Audry Dionisio on rhythm guitar, Alex Montemayor on bass and Bea Lao on drums.

As a band they bypassed the indie route which was ruffled some feathers. After all, they are not the only estrogen-powered rock band. It's not their fault that they are all eye-candy, and often.

In actual fact, drummer Bea Lao is acknowledge as a monster on her instrument, as is Nicole. Guitarists Audry Dionisio and Caren Mangaran differ in temperament, style and strengths. "Put us together and we make one hell of a guitarist." Alex said.

Their faces are not yet familiar to the general public. But in the local music scene, rock band aficionados see them as emerging goddesses.

They got the name of the band through a name-the-band contest then it came to one of the Philippines national hero "General Luna."

Just like the Filipino hero, this girls are driven, feisty, and astig in a world (and genre) dominated by males. Aside from their great talent and looks, they're also certified fashionistas.

They released their album "Different Corners" with a hit song "Nandito" and "Tila".

One of my favorites in their album "Nandito"

"Tila" from their album Different Corners.

Pinoy all-female band rocks!! \m/
