'The Bobotante Mindset is our National Tragedy' |
Here we are again, the same old cycle route. Yet here we are again—seeing the same names on the list. Rodolfo Marcoleta. Bong Go. Bato Dela Rosa. Camille Villar. Imee Marcos. The usual suspects. The traditional politicians who’ve long mastered the art of staying in power. And once again, nanalo na naman sila.
Why? Because we, as a nation, never fucking learn.
The Bobotante Mindset is our National Tragedy for how many elections that have passed.
The term “bobotante” is offensive to some, but let’s not sugarcoat the truth—this is the root of our decay. These are the voters who keep selling their votes for P500, P200, or kahit bigas lang, in exchange for another six years of suffering, incompetence, and corruption.
They trade the country’s future for one day of relief. One night of busog. But the next day, the same problem. No jobs. Broken roads. Overpriced goods. Hospitals in ruins. Health assistance is ruined. Schools lack chairs, books, and dignity.
But come the next election? They do it again. And again. And again.
Ano ba talaga ang problema natin, Pilipinas?
Every election, same faces, same fucking results, same suffering. Rodolfo Marcoleta is known for defending questionable contracts and positions that protect the elite. Bong Go, forever the lapdog of Duterte, with no clear platform other than loyalty to his darling in jail.. Bato Dela Rosa, who laughs off issues of abuse and killings like it’s a joke. Camille Villar, billionaire heiress, is riding on a surname and TV exposure. Imee Marcos—do we even need to explain? The name Marcos alone is soaked in historical theft, lies, and blood.
And yet... they win.
Because the bobotante believes in the “Eh ano ngayon?” mindset.
Every time we allow vote-buying to determine leadership, we destroy democracy with our own hands. This isn’t just a matter of being poor. Poverty doesn’t automatically make you a bobotante. Some poor people vote wisely. The bobotante is someone who chooses not to care. Who chooses not to think beyond the now?
We know those Duterte allies like Bato, Go, Marcoleta, Villar, and the bandwagoner Imee Marcos have a different agenda other than winning the elections, and alam natin kung ano yun to stop the possible impeachment of the worst VP in the hstory of this country, si Sara Duterte and freeing the monster of it all, Rodrigo Duterte in Hague.
Is that how low we value our future?
Are we still going to excuse ignorance every single election? Are we still going to blame the system while we actively feed it?
Democracy is not just a right—it’s a responsibility. If we treat the ballot like a raffle ticket, we’ll always end up with clowns, thieves, and dynasties.
We have found a glimmer of hope with the wins of Senator Kiko Pangilinan and Senator Bam Aquino. We’re not doomed forever. But the clock is ticking. Every vote is either a step forward or a step into deeper mud. Our children are watching. The next generation will inherit whatever mess we leave behind.
Akala ko ba separation from church and state?
WE LOVE FUCKING CHANGE IN THIS COUNTRY, BUT WE DO NOT WANT TO REPLACE THE TRAPOS! FOOLISHNESS AT ITS FINEST, MAN!!
